"Interface"

This CD-ROM was developed jointly by the Royal Naval Submarine School and the Royal Navy Submarine Museum. Through photographs, text, oral commentary and extracts of videos, it covers the history and ethos of the Royal Navy Submarine Service. It explores the key milestones in the development of submarines, discusses the current roles of the most powerful arm of the Royal Navy, and investigates what future Royal Navy submarines will look like and what contribution they will make to the nation’s defence.

The CD-ROM is easy to use and has a step by step guide for navigation through its many categories. It addresses such topics as

The development of the submarine in the Royal Navy has not been without great human cost. Winston Churchill, whilst Prime Minister during WWII. Said of the Submarine Service "There is no branch of His Majesty’s Forces which in this war has suffered the same proportion of total loss as our Submarine Service. It is the most dangerous of all services." The CD-ROM describes the circumstances of our losses and remembers those who gave their lives in both war and peace.
