Now you can experience the reality at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum

This unique Museum offers you the chance.... to climb aboard a real submarine, to discover true tales of heroism and to relive a life under the sea through the personal effects of the crews.

Start your submarine experience with a film show (10) depicting the history of the Submarine Service, followed by an evocative tour of HMS Alliance (2) guided by an ex-submariner; then see the Royal Navy's first submarine Holland 1(9) under conservation in her tank; examine at close quarters X24 (7), a sister submarine to those which sank the German battleship Tirpitz; picnic by LR3 (12), a deep-submergence rescue submarine; and touch the submarine torpedoes, guns, and missiles (1).

In the Museum's historical and modern galleries (4), trace the history of submarines and the men. Learn how nuclear fission drives today's submarines, and use our Geiger Counter.

Sweep the panorama of Portsmouth Harbour through the periscopes (6) of HMS Conqueror of Falkland's War fame. Visit Remembrance Corner (5) which commemorates those who devoted their lives to the Submarine Service. Admire their medals and read about our l4 Victoria Cross heroes.

Have a go at being a Submarine Captain in our Control Room trainer (11). Come face to face with Jim, an articulated diving suit, and trace the History of diving (8). Visit our new exhibition, the Weapons Gallery (13).
