May 2008 - Museums and Galleries Month at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum

 

Special Events

 

On Saturday 17th, Sunday 25th and Thursday 29th, Curator, Bob Mealings will be giving special tours of  Holland 1 , the Royal Navy's first submarine, built in 1901.

 

On Thursday 29th there will also be a "Fantastic Voyages Workshop" for children, with competitions and prizes.

 

The tours will be family friendly events catering for all ages and will showcase all the different scientific innovations that went towards creating one of the world’s most important surviving historic submarines.

 

There will be a minimum two tours on each day 11am and 2pm. 

Fantastic Voyages

 The Royal Navy Submarine Museum is opening a new exhibition about the world of imaginary submarines and underwater adventure from the 14th July 2007.

 

Featuring 20,000 Leagues under the Sea and The Beatles Yellow Submarine this an exhibition for all the family. There are toys and games from the 1960s and 70s that will make the grown ups smile and a real yellow submarine for children to explore.
