Albums

We hold a large collection of original photograph albums. Here are a couple of examples: Three albums depicting the Naval Service of Vice Admiral Leslie Ashmore GCB, DSC, ADC. Two of the albums depict the exploits of E-class submarines in the Baltic during WWI.

Two albums relating to the trip from Portsmouth to Hong Kong, in 1931, by HM Submarine Olympus compiled by Chief Petty Officer Telegraphist William Henry Bromley.

Album 1

The first album gives a pictorial record of the trip and the captioning even contains details of sailing and arrival times at various ports along the way including weather details. The other album contains photographs of the interior of Olympus showing compartments and pieces of equipment each with detailed captioning outlining its purpose.
