LR3 is a deep-sea survey and repair submersible. The vessel was built in 1982 by Slingsby Engineering for use in the offshore gas and oil industry. LR3 was also operated by the NATO submarine rescue unit and is similar to the British submersible sent to help with the stricken Russian submarine, the Kursk. | |||||
