HMS Alliance, commissioned in 1947, forms the centerpiece of the Museum. The submarine experience is brought to life on a tour of the submarine, enhanced by the first hand experience of ex-submariners guides, many who served on this class of submarine. We have recreated the tour on the website, taking you from the Forward Torpedo tubes, through the Accommodation section to the Control Room where you can learn how to navigate, dive, surface, and adjust the trim.We then move on to Domestic Services including the heads (WCs) and Galley. After this, we move aft where you can see the Engine and Motor rooms, ending the HMS Alliance tour in the After Ends. Despite all our creative skills, we are unable to recreat the atmosphere, smell, conditions, or sounds onboard the Submarine - to experience the full excitement of HMS Alliance, you will have to visit the museum.
